I made a sound installation for a party at my workplace. It uses multiple bluetooth speakers hidden between various plants, with a synchronized soundtrack that plays sounds that travel between the speakers, for an immersive spatial sound feeling. This is my small documentation of it.
The way it works is with basic web components that play audio. Later I investigated more professional solutions for web audio but in the end it was more important to make it fast, so I traded off the fancy features for a more straightforward and cross-compatible approach, and designed the sound around the idea of maybe not being 100% synchronized. Still, when playing on similar devices that don't have problems loading a few tens of megabytes of sound, the program is able to synchronize the audio so a pulse is heard at the same time across multiple bluetooth speakers, which I consider to be a nice accomplishment.
I want to expand this project and do more installations, if I find the resources and opportunity to show it. Contact me if you find this interesting at all!
Oh yea, not sure it's a good idea to link it due to the risk of this happening but you can actually play it if you visit https://horatiuromantic.com and look around for the soundscaper. Or let me know if you can't find it and I'll give you a demo.
